Nestled in the heart of Peterborough, Taso's Restaurant and Pizzeria offers an inviting Mediterranean-inspired dining experience that masterfully blends authentic Greek flavors with comforting Italian classics. This charming establishment, located at 18 Lindsay Rd, captivates guests with its cozy, petite setting—perfect for casual get-togethers and lively evenings, though a bit on the bustling side for those seeking a quiet, romantic dinner.
The menu at Taso’s is a vibrant celebration of fresh, bold ingredients and generous portions. Highlights include the zesty and crisp Caesar Salad, tender and flavor-packed Chicken Souvlaki Dinner, and the ever-popular Chicken Parmigiana with Fettuccine Alfredo, which balances creamy richness with perfectly cooked poultry. Pizza enthusiasts rave about their wood-burning oven creations, especially the Chicken Bruschetta Pizza and Lucy’s Flatbread, both boasting a remarkably crispy yet tender crust that carries abundant, fresh toppings without slipping into sogginess. Greek favorites like the Spicy Feta Dip & Pita and the hearty Meat Platter invite diners to indulge in a tapestry of textures and tastes that evoke sunny Mediterranean shores.
The culinary journey continues with standout dishes like the Grilled Calamari and the unique Gluten Free Pistachio dessert, reflecting Taso’s thoughtful approach to catering to diverse tastes and dietary needs. For those who enjoy pairing their meal with a drink, the restaurant offers a well-curated selection of spirits that includes smooth Grey Goose Vodka, warming Bulleit Bourbon, and the distinctly aromatic Ouzo, alongside refreshing options like their signature Corona and Pink Lemonade or vibrant Sangria.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere is animated and friendly—a place where prompt, courteous service meets a convivial environment. Customers like Michael Alex appreciate the attentive staff, even though the intimate layout—featuring only about 6 to 7 tables and a compact bar area—can make the space feel lively and somewhat noisy. This buzz is part of the charm for many guests, infusing each visit with an energetic vibe that complements the generous, flavorful dishes.
Patrons repeatedly praise the restaurant's ability to accommodate larger groups seamlessly, as Jam Cheung experienced with their party of eleven, where not a detail was overlooked. Meanwhile, the quality and quantity of the food consistently earn high marks, with Marilynn Kaye recalling a delightful evening filled with shared appetizers like saganaki and tzaziki, followed by satisfying entrees such as souvlaki, pizza, and lasagna—all leaving enough on the plate for indulgent leftovers.
Whether indulging in the hearty Feature Burger or savoring the traditional tastes of the Spaghetti Bolognese and lasagna special offer, regulars and newcomers alike find themselves returning to Taso’s for its genuine flavors, welcoming vibe, and that unbeatable combination of Mediterranean sunshine and Italian comfort on a plate.
For a taste of Peterborough’s flourishing local food scene, Taso's Restaurant and Pizzeria delivers a memorable and authentically satisfying experience—where friends become family around plates heaped with passion and tradition.
Had dinner at Taso’s with my wife very recently. The restaurant itself is very small. I think there were only 6 or 7 tables, with most being tables for 2 people. There are also 10 or so seats at the bar. The spacing of the tables is very tight and as a result it’s very noisy. Wouldn’t recommend it for a quiet romantic dinner. The service was good, prompt and friendly. Overall the food was pretty good and portions were large. We had the Kiki’s Platter to start off with. It was a great mix of Apps, very filling and tasted real good. I had the Veal Parmigiana (which really isn’t an Italian dish) and it was good, but could have been cooked a little less in my view. The Veal and accompanying Spaghetti were served with a Bolognaise sauce which was tasty and a lot nicer than the typical Marinara sauce you get at other restaurants in North America. My wife’s pizza was large and she liked it. The food delivered to other tables also looked good. We’ll likely go again sometime.
Well finally I have a very good restaurant very close to me!!! This place prior to becoming Taso’s used to be a dump!!! Previous owners never realized how much potential it could have been but poor service and lack of staff and food choices were amongst the many failures of previous owners!! I am very happy with menu choices and modest prices!!! Service is courteous and friendly!!!
This is a little Gem of a restaurant. Excellent food, excellent service and huge quantities. Went with my son in law and we shared Greek pizza. OMG it was so good. First of all they have a wood burning pizza oven which always turns out great pizza. The crust was crispy yet tender and the toppings were plentiful. So soggy crust like often happens with a loaded pizza. Excellent home made baklava as well.
We came here after reading the great Google reviews and decided to give it a try! It’s a cozy, petite-sized restaurant with very friendly service. They were able to accommodate our group of 11 without any issue, which was impressive. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were just right—not too much, not too little. Everything was well-prepared and flavorful. The restaurant was clean, including the washroom, and the air conditioning was perfect—very refreshing after a warm trail walk. We had a very pleasant lunch here and would definitely recommend it to others!
The food was amazing! We started with an appetizer platter with saganaki, tzaziki, pita, and more; perfect for our group of 7. We had souvlaki, pizza, spaghetti, lasagna and cakes for dessert. Everything was delicious and the servings were quite large, most of the group had leftovers to bring home. I will definitely return the next time we're in town.
Small cosy restaurant very friendly staff our server, Andrea was top notch.the food is amazing and large portions. Highly recommend definitely need reservations.
My first time at Taso's. The server was absolutely fantastic, fiendly, outgoing, knowledgeable. She made it a really good experience. The food is fantastic. We went for lunch. The atmosphere is well designed for the small space. There's literally only six tables but there is also a small bar you could sit at. There is no patio.Highly recommend reservations. This is a Greek and Italian place. The pizza apparently is quite good but I've never had it. I like how they serve it though. I had a village salad which is basically a Greek salad without lettuce and more focused on vegetables! It's my favorite and they do it really well and we had a roasted red pepper feta dip with pita bread. My friend was really impressed with her lunch which was the lunch special chicken with potato rice and Greek salad. I would recommend and I will absolutely go back.
Taso’s is a hidden gem outside Peterborough, offering an outstanding food experience with a small but delicious menu. Their wood-fired pizzas, available in both red sauce and creamy garlic-butter white sauce, are a must-try, and the lasagna is excellent too. Portions are generous, and the quality is top-notch. The dining space is limited, so reservations are recommended for evenings, but there are simple outdoor benches available if you prefer to enjoy your meal outside. A great spot for truly delicious food!
